• It's in Yiddish! The user interface itself (i.e., all menus, buttons, pop-up messages, etc.) are either in Yiddish and/or are bi-lingual, in Yiddish and English.
  
  
• A few glitches appeared with Tiger (OS 10.4.2), but these have mostly been fixed in the latest version (16.7). Remainder will be fixed shortly.
  
  
• Uses proper Unicode through and through, therefore messages can be read by any Unicode compliant program on any platform. No shortcuts or substitutions made to official Unicode Yiddish characters.
  
  
• Round-trip email verified to work - i.e. Mac to Fenster to Mac with no errors introduced.
  
  
• Automatic right-justification of Yiddish/Hebrew text.
  
  
• Works with any Unicode keyboard layout.
  

• Beta versions of  two keyboard layouts are included with the download. These keyboards can be used with any Mac program. They are:
          A) a true Yiddish Qwerty layout (Yiddish_QWERTYj2.3)
          B)  an Isreali style Hebrew/Yiddish keyboard (Hebrew_QWERTYj2.3, which is not really "Qwerty,"
                                                                                                                                despite the name)

• Remembers unsaved messages between shutdowns.
  
  
• User preferences for text size
  - Independent for Yiddish and English since the characters look better at different sizes for each.
  - Text size automatically changed when language is switched
  
  
• Unlimited "mailboxes" for storage and filing of received messages.
  - User creates names for these mailboxes
  - One-step (command-key or right-click) moving of messages into mailboxes
  - Mailboxes may be added / deleted at will
  - Mail is stored as plain text files (UTF-8), so can be opened in other programs.
  
  
• Directly accesses the database of OS X's built-in Address Book. Thus, uses the same address list as Apple's Mail program -> no need to re-enter addresses. Since there are widely available converters to translate address databases from Eudora, Entourage, Exchange, etc to the Address Book database, no-one should have to re-type any addresses to use Shoshke-post.
  
  
• Type-ahead automatic search of Address Book database. The Address Book program does not need to be running.

• Built-in search functions (Find... and Find Again...) {Not tested for some time)
  - Can search in any field of message (sender, recipient, message text, etc.)
  - Can search one mailbox or search all mailboxes.
  - Highlights text in message when found (only in message contents, so far)
  - Works in English or Yiddish.
  - Can use keyboard shortcuts to switch languages in Find dialogs.
  
  
• Save any message to disk as text (.txt) file.
  
  
• Print any message to any printer that works with Mac OS X. Yiddish prints correctly.

• Can view HTML email.
  
  
• Built-in Yiddish web Browser (the first?) - Shoshke-Bleterer (alpha version). To use it, click the icon towards the upper right on the main email window. There is a similar icon in the browser to get back to the email window.
